MacIntyre Coffee
Established in a stripped-back former garage just off Hoxton Square, MacIntyre Coffee embodies the DIY spirit the area has become known for. The emphasis here is on simplicity (the coffee menu lists two options ‘black’ or ‘white’) and innovation (owner Alex MacIntyre is experimenting with a custom-designed coffee grinder). The café serves beans by the nearly infallible Workshop Coffee, alongside rotating guest coffees from international micro roasters.
The distinctive coffee bar – designed by espresso entrepreneur Hoi Chi Ng of Coming Soon Coffee – supports two space age-styled Kees van der Westen Speedster machines. Beans are pre-dosed for use in a Mahlkönig EK 43, speciality coffee’s grinder du jour. Head to MacIntyre Coffee to discover the latest developments in brewing and to sample some unusual coffees with the creative crowd. This is one for the coffee geeks.
