Machines and Technology at LCF

WHETHER YOU'RE A PROFESSIONAL BARISTA OR SIMPLY A BIT OF A KEEN BEAN, THIS YEAR'S FESTIVAL IS SURE TO IMPRESS WITH ITS SELECTION OF THE LATEST AND GREATEST IN COFFEE TECHNOLOGY.

HERE'S A SNEAK PEEK OF WHAT YOU CAN LOOK FORWARD TO...

FAEMA'S E71

Say hello to our magazine cover star and machine of choice for Coffee Masters, the E71! Inspired by the legendary E61, the FAEMA E71 is a top-of-the-range professional espresso machine and launched for the first time at The London Coffee Festival 2016.

An extraordinary blend of iconic design by Giugiaro Design, cutting edge technology, and traditional features, the E71 was especially built to provide baristas absolute freedom to express their art: the choice of working manually or of using the digital control system, with its integrated touchscreen display bringing remarkable flexibility and technical innovation to the world of traditional coffee machines.

The E71 presents a new hydraulic circuit with GTi infusion control system that guarantees both highprecision infusion and perfect coffee brew-time regulation. The independent group heads allow baristas to manage manifold coffee blends that require specific extraction temperatures, ensuring thermal stability whilst its energy-saving features boast daily energy savings 40% higher than in standard models.

It features innovative ergonomic solutions, including the cold touch steam wand, the new soft touch open-spout portafilters with a specially developed grip angle. And if that’s not enough, there’s an illuminated work area, flush system to eliminate coffee residues from the previous delivery and a steam wand purge function to eliminate any condensation created during medium-long time intervals between steam bursts. Not bad ay?

Filippo Mazzoni, Training Manager & Coffee Specialist for Faema, is running a session titled Blooming on the E71: Performing the infusion in two steps in The Lab on both Thursday and Friday of the festival. Don't miss it!

MAHLKÖNIG’s Grinders

With over 90 years’ experience and with an genuine dedication to coffee, the German coffee grinder manufacturer MAHLKÖNIG is known for providing the most sophisticated premium espresso grinder models in the world: the EK43, K30 and the brand new PEAK.

In 2015 MAHLKÖNIG became the official espresso grinder sponsor of the first ever Coffee Masters competition, and has provided the grinders for every edition since then. As well as the famous EK43, competing baristas were able to choose between the K30 Vario AIR and the PEAK, with both at their disposal on stage.

Using the same technical setup throughout the competition intensifies the focus on what finally determines between victory or defeat: the taste and the aroma of the specialty coffee as well as the talent, the skills and the passion of the competing barista.

Anfim's Grinders

Also featuring in Latte Art Live is ANFIM’s brand new SP II grinder, designed by a passionate and expert team in Milan. Creativity and accuracy are two of the skills which those baristas on the Latte Art Line line-up possess, and ANFIM’s team are no different when it comes to producing the most efficient and precise espresso grinders for baristas all over the world. I’m sure our worldclass latte-artists will agree.

Slayer's Steam

Bar flow and workspace are often overlooked when considering equipment and technology. Both should encourage a clean and efficient bar flow, and designs should be adored and celebrated by the user, the barista, and the guest. Slayer has always managed to hit the nail on the head when it comes to this, which is why we’ve chosen the Steam as THE machine for Latte Art Live.

The Steam’s Barista Dashboard gives the barista easy access to programming, quick cleaning and access to all the machine parameters, whilst Wing Leg Channels hide its water and power lines giving the machine a clean line across the counter for the coffeedrinker’s experience. Make sure you admire for yourself at the Latte Art Live stage!

Ceroffee Coffee Roaster

The world of coffee is changing: customers know what they like and are prepared to pay more to get it. That’s why the Ceroffee Coffee Roaster is a revolution for cafes, coffee shops and restaurants who are looking to offer bespoke roasts for customers. Roast up to 15kg of coffee (that’s enough for 750 shots!) per day using the machine’s preset programmes or create roasting profiles on your mobile phone. Either way, the Ceroffee is seriously simple to use and can be hired or purchased from u-select.co.uk.
