Decent Packaging embraces community, creativity and collaboration, which is why when they were searching for a new design for their latest Compostable Canvas limited edition cup range, they reached out to talented artists in their local community. However, this time, they wanted to go one step further by partnering with a meaningful charity from the coffee industry to help to raise awareness and funds.
They decided to partner with
Project Waterfall - who work to bring clean water, sanitation and education to coffee-growing communities across the world.
Entrants had to submit an original piece of artwork that represented a creative and unique connection or answer to the question “what does clean water mean to you?”. Decent Packaging encouraged entrants to interpret this question as freely as possible, keeping in mind their aim - which was to raise awareness for the Project Waterfall charity.
The winner would take home a beloved Moccamaster and a bunch of coffee items to make sure they’re never far away from a good coffee.
The chosen 10 shortlisted artworks were exhibited and judged by the public at the London Coffee Festival, as well as on the Decent Packaging social media channels in March 2022, and the winner was announced on the final day of the event. A massive congratulations goes to Emma Evans-Freke, who created a piece of artwork that is meaningful, eye-catching and clearly resonated with a lot of people.
Emma Evans-Freke is the talented brains behind
Blackbird House Designs, home to printed homewares and artwork and a plastic free business itself. The story behind her design? “I wanted to create something that felt clean and fresh, water is the source of life and should be clean and freely available to everyone. I love to create designs with an element of food and drink so combining with a coffee pot made sense and the colours felt appropriate.”
