Formative Coffee - St James’s
Formative Coffee is a sleek, minimalist gem tucked just off Victoria Street, near St James’s Park. It’s the kind of spot you might breeze past unless someone lets you in on the secret… but once you step inside, it becomes an instant favourite.
The space is bright, contemporary and quietly sophisticated: floor‑to‑ceiling windows, clean lines, and a calm energy that makes you want to settle in. Behind the bar, you’ll find baristas who know their craft inside out. The café was founded by Ian Kissick, a leading name in specialty coffee.
Formative is a standout specialty destination in central London, pairing a sleek, elevated space with seriously dialled‑in coffees. On the espresso bar during our visit, the menu featured: Hazelnut Cream, Berry & Choc, Honeysuckle, Bouquet and Decaf (Baked Plum).
Meanwhile, the filter menu echoed those same expressive flavour profiles, offering: Lemon Curd, Berry & Choc and Fizzy Apple.
