Describe your journey in the coffee industry so far:
A large part of my time goes into taking care of my team, and after 7.5 years in coffee, I'm incredibly grateful for the people who've grown alongside me. I began exploring competitions through Cup Tasters, but for a long time I felt too shy for anything more presentation-heavy. That changed when I pushed myself to join Coffee Masters, and now I've even registered for the National Brewers Cup. It feels like a lot of growth in a short time, and I'm proud of how far I've come. Still, my greatest achievement isn't a title or a score, it's the connections I've built both behind the bar and beyond it. There wouldn't be great baristas without great guests, and I never forget that. So here's to everyone who's been part of my story so far. Cheers.
How do you share your passion for coffee with others, whether within the industry or the wider community?
I share my passion for coffee mostly through people - both my team and the guests we serve. A big part of my day is supporting and mentoring baristas, helping them grow in confidence, taste, and curiosity. We organize regular cuppings for the team and always try to include anyone walking by, inviting them to taste and discover something new. Most of our connections are reality based - no fancy marketing posts or Instagram-perfect interiors, just genuine, passionate people who love working with coffee. I love seeing how one small experience can shift someone's view of what coffee can be.
Are there any specific disciplines in the competition that you're particularly excited about?
Definitely the latte art round. I did my first throwdown this August and somehow won it - with pea milk. The final round was in a coupe glass, with pea milk. Also looking forward to the brewing discipline, was absolutely horrendous last year for me. Needed to improve, so that one's more of a challenge I'm waiting for.
