DJ Profile: 

DJ Virula is a Brazilian DJ from Espírito Santo, Brazil, whose sound is deeply rooted in Drum & Bass and the wider UK underground electronic music culture. Beginning his DJ journey in 2021, he initially explored Brazilian music and Groove BR, House music and Techno before moving towards the underground club scene and developing a strong focus on Drum & Bass, Jungle and related sounds. He is currently a resident at Function FM in Belo Horizonte, where he presents his programme CENTO E SETENTA E CINCO, exploring different sides of Drum & Bass, from hardcore and jungle to atmospheric, intelligent and liquid sounds. His sets combine a strong connection to the history of the genre with a constant search for new and unreleased music.

Paulo has been working as a barista since 2018. What began with the intention of learning more about coffee before opening a café developed into a long-term career and a deep passion for specialty coffee. Based in Vitória, Espírito Santo, Brazil, he has developed his work across brewing, coffee competitions, mixology and creative coffee experiences. In 2024, he placed second in a brewed coffee competition at the Copa Coffees event during Espírito Santo’s National Coffee Week. In 2025, he competed in the Campari Bartender Competition, where he explored his perception of coffee beyond its traditional role as a brewed beverage, creating a Coffee Negroni using an AeroPress. The same year, he competed in the DaVinci Gourmet Barista Craft Championship, further developing his approach to coffee through creativity, technique and storytelling. In 2026, he participated in the Toddy Cold Brew Competition at the London Coffee Festival, where he presented and explored the potential of Canephora coffee from Espírito Santo as a specialty coffee, highlighting the diversity, quality and possibilities of a species deeply connected to the region’s coffee culture. Alongside his work as a barista, Paulo is also a bartender and mixologist, incorporating coffee into cocktails and signature creations. His approach is rooted in understanding coffee from its origins, processing and extraction through to its use in new and unexpected drinking experiences.
