Mosey - Best Sustainable Coffee Shop 2026
LCF Awards Spotlight Q&A
1. Congratulations on your win! Can you tell us a little about your business and what makes it special?
We are a coffee shop and brunch cafe. It has a real community vibe, I know that our customers enjoy the team knowing their coffee order and remembering what they did at the weekend. Sticking to our guns with quality produce and sustainability values has really tested us in this tight economy but we are managing to not compromise and still make a profit.
2. What award did you win at The London Coffee Festival Awards 2026 or 2025, and what does that recognition mean to you and your team?
We won the most sustainable coffee shop this year and it means the world to us. Being tucked away out of the limelight in South East London, we wouldn't be on the radar otherwise. The huge and genuine effort we make with sustainability goes way above any other hospitality business I know, it's also counter productive to making profit but I think it's important enough to continue focusing on. It also came at a really great time, The business turned 3 in July and I was a little burnt out and thoughts of cutting corners had crossed my mind so this was the refocus that I needed!
3. What inspired you to enter The London Coffee Festival Awards?
Jayne from Carnival Coffee Roasters encourage me. You are probably aware of her as they win awards too. It honestly wouldn't have occurred to me otherwise. We have a great relationship with them and champion each other.
4. What do you think helped you stand out and secure the win?
The real level of commitment. There's no pressure from investors (we don't have any) or an expectation from anyone to do it, we just think it’s the right thing to do
5. Tell us about the journey behind your business. What has been your proudest achievement so far?
I worked in hospitality growing up, I then worked in retail and missed hospitality, it was a long road getting the business off the ground, I sold my house, left my well-paid job and started at the bottom again as a minimum wage waitress in a pub, moved from Manchester to London, got back into coffee and worked up to general managing restaurants, looked for a site and Mosey was born. I’m proud to create an environment where customers and team members feel welcome and at home.
6 What impact has winning had on your business, team or community since the awards were announced?
I think it gave credit where credit is due. You can't own a business in London without some serious bollocks and the community have all been as supportive as ever.
7. How important is it to receive recognition from the coffee community?
More important than I realised, we're proud to be part of it.
8. If someone was visiting your coffee shop for the first time, what's the one thing they absolutely shouldn't miss?
Apart from a seriously good flat white, our banana bread flies out of the door.
9. What's next? Are there any exciting plans, projects or ambitions on the horizon?
We'd like to continue working on our sustainability, we opened a pasta restaurant 3 nights a week Suora by Mosey insta @suorapasta and let's see what else happens!
10. What advice would you give to businesses thinking about entering The London Coffee Festival Awards in the future?
Just do it, you've got to be in it to win it!
